A phoenix is defined as a unique bird that lives for five or six centuries in the Arabian desert. Bursting into flames and rising from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle. I am sure everyone who hears the term just thinks of Dumbledore's Pet (Harry Potter Series and if you have not seen or read it you have clearly been living under a rock).
In Greek mythology, it is associated with rebirth through the ashes. For the religious, the Bible has taught us the story of How Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins. He committed none but he still died and was reborn similarly to a Phoenix. For the film fan "Gandalf the Grey" Fought the Demon of Fire to be reborn as Gandalf the White. There are many films along with this concept. The symbolism of phoenix, therefore, is Rebirth, Life, Time, Magic, Resurrection, Creativity, Protection, Immortality.
Have you ever learn how this applies to your daily life. In Life we can make all the plans on how we want our lives to move forward, We set up goals, we have dreams, We get involved in relationships or friendships. As humans we feel the continuous need to plan or try to move forward not that there is anything wrong with that, we all should strive to achieve a bright future. However when something goes wrong, you lose your job, you lose hope, you forget your goals and sometimes your friendship or your relationship and it hurts. No one will truly understand the pain except you, the gut crushing feeling, you truly can not go on. The feeling that a vital part of you is gone. I am sure many of us including myself have felt this. The ongoing pandemic has made many of our lives standstill which to an extent is true for some it's normal but is it truly a defeat?
Perhaps it is a time for reflection and growth. When you reach a fork in the road do you stop completely or choose to move in a direction (left or right). Time does not stand still why should you?. Adjust your view, maybe this part of you has to die to make way for a stronger and more determined you. The future is never set in stone we can plan, plan and plan but none of us has a time machine to predict what will happen. The pandemic has granted us a chance to take a good hard look at ourselves we should focus more on working on ourselves or if we have a partner grow and work together not forgetting our own self-growth.
Once the pandemic ends we will emerge just like a Phoenix rises from the ashes to a new world our old goals may not fit that's ok, Our dreams may have grown into bigger and better ones Embrace it, lament things that are lost but do not let things consume you, remember the importance is to rise above it.
Marianne Williamson said Personal transformation can and does have global effects, as we go, so the world is there for us. The revolution is ultimately a personal one.
